Colonel Bob Myer, DMD: Dental Missions

DentalSoundbytes

Dr. (Colonel) Bob Meyer retired after a 30-year career in the Army, practiced comprehensive dentistry for 16 years in private practice, and in 2015 became a full-time, volunteer dental missionary. Bob became extensively involved with portable dental equipment as commander of the world’s only airborne dental unit responsible for deploying portable dental teams wherever the military was sent. Bob also directed the Army’s Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency program, where he prepared young dentists to function independently and competently, in often austere settings, which also helped set the stage for dental mission work. Bob has been President and is now the Executive Director of the Christian Dental Society.
Dr. Bob and Diane Meyer have been married for 38 years and have three children and eight grandchildren, all active in churches. For the past 25 years, Bob and Diane have led or participated in over 60 short-term portable dental missions in 38 different countries, utilizing 18 different Christian organizations. God has uniquely prepared Bob and Diane with the knowledge, flexibility, and talents to organize, lead, teach, and provide dental care and encouragement to the less fortunate in developing countries. They have authored numerous articles, often lecture on portable dental missions, and have written three books: Truth, Teeth, and Travel Vol I and II and Dental Mission Manual for Portable, Short-term Dental Trips.
