Military & Missionary Dentist Moves into Midwest Ministry

Dr. Jonathan Spenn is CMDA’s new Midwest Regional Dental Coordinator, a position which will allow him to energize dental school ministry across his region.  His vast experience providing dental care to the needy domestically and internationally will be a great asset as he works with students and colleagues.  Hear how his zeal to care for others has taken him to 18 different countries in his 15 years as a dentist.

 

 

About Our Guest

Dr. Jonathan Spenn has been a CMDA member since 2003 while attending Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. Jonathan’s closer involvement with CMDA began on a Global Health Outreach (GHO) trip to El Salvador his junior year of college.  Jonathan has served on CMDA Continuing Education Committee since 2018. Following graduation from dental school, he served as a general dentist in the US Army from 2008-2016.  He has spent the past seven years of his career at the Florida Department of Health in Ocala, Florida, while also serving as the Dental Advisor/Instructor for Indigenous People’s Technology & Education Center (ITEC).  Jonathan and his wife, Amy, are thrilled to be able to move back to the Midwest to be closer to their family and be immersed in the Midwest culture that they’ve missed. Jonathan feels that God has given him a passion for evangelism, dentistry, apologetics, and missions. He enjoys teaching others, attending conferences and networking and finds joy in helping young people navigate their career choices as they navigate dental school and other opportunities after graduation.
